Participants will engage in hands‑on simulations developed by the instructor, including “Beat the Bot” and “Human Neural Networks”, to observe directly how humans and AI differ in their approaches to choices, trade‑offs, error patterns and adaptability.

Enhancing Competitiveness with AI and Robotics Innovation

Leverage AI to drive business innovation and create cutting-edge AI-driven products and services that meet evolving market demands. Harness the power of strategic robotics applications to establish and sustain a competitive edge, positioning your organisation at the forefront of technological advancement.

MODULE 3:

Case Study: AI in Robotics and Applications

Develop a comprehensive understanding of the motivations and principles behind creating autonomous robotic systems by leveraging sensory perception, control principles, and advanced AI algorithms. Explore the connections between robotics and the broader field of artificial intelligence, uncovering how these disciplines complement and enhance one another. Formulate and address challenges related to domain-specific data, such as obstacle avoidance and robotic arm manipulation, by applying abstract models and AI algorithms in robotics. Focus on developing and implementing practical solutions to key robotics challenges while delving into the advancements in AI-driven intelligent robotics technology. Finally, consider the future integration of AI and robotics, examining its potential to revolutionise industries and redefine innovation.

MODULE 4:

Company Visit: Tencent and UBTech Office* with Industry experts sharing (HKPC)

Visit leading companies in the Greater Bay Area to observe AI and robotics applications in action, gaining practical insights into their capabilities. These visits will offer participants the opportunity to engage in insightful discussions with industry experts, exploring the challenges and successes of implementing these technologies. Additionally, uncover emerging trends and innovations that are shaping the future of AI and robotics.

Participants are required to achieve a minimum attendance of 75% in order to be considered for the completion of the programme (all four modules).
Upon successful completion of all four modules, participants will be awarded a certificate.
All programmes are non-credit bearing.

Artificial Intelligence in Human Decision Making

Professor Dawei WANG

Assistant Professor of Innovation and Information Management

Professor Dawei Wang received his PhD in Management and Organisations from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. He was mentored by Dr. Edward Zajac, a renowned behavioural strategist and Dr. Luis Amaral, an established scholar in the fields of physics, chemistry and bio-engineering. Using an interdisciplinary approach,  Professor Wang is interested in conducting experiments on artificial intelligence systems as well as applying artificial intelligence technology in the study of human decision-making and human behaviours. His research is published in top-tier research journals including Journal of Personality and Social Psychology and Psychological Science.

Professor Hailiang CHEN

Professor in Innovation and Information Management

Professor Hailiang Chen is interested in the research areas of social media, fintech, artificial intelligence, business analytics, venture capital, entrepreneurship, mobile and social commerce, economics of information systems, and design science. His research has been published in elite business journals in information systems, finance, and management, including Information Systems Research (ISR), Journal of Financial Economics (JFE), Journal of Management Information Systems (JMIS), Management Science (MS), Review of Financial Studies (RFS), and Strategic Management Journal (SMJ). His research received media coverage in outlets such as Wall Street Journal, Forbes, New York Times, Reuters, Seeking Alpha, TechSpot, and so on.

Professor Michael C.L. CHAU

Professor in Innovation and Information Management
MAIB Programme Director

Professor Michael Chau is a Professor in Innovation and Information Management in the HKU Business School at the University of Hong Kong. . He received a Ph.D. degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona and a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science (Information Systems) from the University of Hong Kong. His research interests include business analytics, artificial intelligence, web mining and social media, electronic commerce, fintech, smart health, security informatics, human-computer interaction, and IT in education. He has published more than 150 articles in premier journals and conferences in information systems, computer science, and information science. He has received multiple international research awards and has been highly ranked in several research productivity studies.
